Prayer for Peace

"My desire to tell some of my story through music brought about this CD. Telling Stories is a collection of tunes that I composed over the past twenty years. Each composition has an inspiration - quite often a person, situation or location - and a story. Taken together, the compositions provide a window into who I am. It is my hope that the thoughts and emotions at the root of each tune will resonate within you as you listen."

"We loved it, loved it, loved it!"

"Sultry, subtle, sexy and even a little sarcastic - 20 CDs of this kind of music and I'd be in absolute heaven! Do you have any idea how much pleasure your music gives?"

"...expressed a range of emotions. Prayer for Peace was particularly moving."

"It ranks as my favorite work of Fred's so far."

"It's so good that all I needed was a candle and a glass of wine and I'd be in heaven!

"We loved it, loved it, loved it!"

"Bertoncini and Haas swing without restraint, and their harmonic insights into both the standards and Haas' elegant original tunes reward careful listening and judicious use of that little button that makes the CD player repeat and repeat again. It's hard to imagine how it could fail to be a hit wherever jazz is spoken." (Bill Craig - Valley News).

Enjoy tunes like Tangerine, I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Embraceable You and Estate (plus five more).

Strike Up The Band
is a collaboration with pianist and vocalist Paul Broadnax and his trio. It was released in 1999 and features Paul's vocals on tunes like Yes Sir, That's My Baby, Falling In Love Is Wonderful, and Sophisticated Lady. Fred's saxophone is highlighted on a solo version of Ellington's In A Sentimental Mood; and the quartet swings like crazy on Strike Up The Band, Moten Swing, and Dwike And Willie.

"Haas and Hallahan have found a balance and communion with one another, as is evidenced by their easy dialogue on this recording. Both performers give of their emotions freely, imbuing each note with tender meaning. The interpretations are so relaxed and open that each tune becomes a personal conversation, like listening to yourself breathe." (Anneke Toomey - Green Mountain Jazz Messenger)
