Interplay students have called Interplay, “Brilliant, a joyous experience, nurturing, humbling and inspiring, and unforgettable.” Interplay has changed the lives of many of its participants, including its teachers! Interplay’s mission is to provide an opportunity for musicians of all ages to explore and experience all aspects of the creative process that is integral to the improvisational art of jazz.

When I told saxophone legend Sonny Rollins about Interplay Jazz and our holistic approach to learning jazz that incorporates yoga, meditation, and natural foods, he said, "Thanks Fred! Let's keep the music alive."

Interplay Jazz Performance Schedule

Here's what happened in Woodstock, Vermont - Check it out and join us for upcoming events.

Woodstock, VT, a quaint, historic village in the middle of scenic Vermont, has been called “the prettiest small town in America” and the “quintessential New England village.” For a week (June 29 – July 3, 2009), Woodstock will be opening its doors (and its ears) to Interplay Jazz. One will be able to hear concerts, jam sessions, classes on jazz improvisation and jazz history, and view jazz films on the historic Town Hall Theater’s big screen.

Students meet daily to talk about upcoming activities, and then move into the flow of master classes, rehearsals, ear training, jazz theory, jam sessions, yoga, meditation and much more!

Local establishments will be hosting evening performances and jam sessions. And several beautiful Bed and Breakfasts, the Val Roc Motel, and the Woodstock Inn and Resort and local residents will be home to our students for the week.

We will have lunch and dinner together each day, morning and afternoon yoga classes, opportunities to play with a variety of groups throughout the week (both student and faculty), work with different combo coaches, and play in structured jam sessions.

The Interplay Jazz Experience can change your life. Please join us for a rich musical learning experience.
